THE CLASS REUNION
by Arthur W. Siebens, Copyright 1998

I knew the reunion would move me
I loved those high school years
Yes, going back got to me
Wish everyone made it here.
Faces from the old yearbook
Some gained, but some lost weight
Boys losing hair liked that baseball cap look
Girls covering that gray they hate.
CHORUS
It’s been so many years since I’ve seen you
Come over here and meet my wife
I hear you lost your dad, well, me too
Now, tell me ’bout your life.
You’ve got two kids, let’s see the pictures
With reading glasses, I’ll see them fine
Doesn’t Viet Nam stick with you?
Is marriage better the second time?
BRIDGE
This band has kept on playing
Since I saw you last
And though we’ll keep on graying
We’ll keep dancing to that music from the past.
Everybody says I look just like my father
‘Course when they saw him last, he was my age
It’s so nice that no one seems to bother
To keep score or hog the stage.
CHORUS
It’s been so many years since I’ve seen you
Now, tell me ’bout your life.
